Announcement of the Biostats 801 course

Please find below an outline of the Veterinary Biostatistics course 
VHM-8010-1 for the Fall Semester 2022.

Based on the current recommendations from UPEI, the plan is for a 
course with all sessions conducted in-person. Plans may be revised 
at any time as necessary based on recommendations from UPEI and the 
Public Health Office of PEI.

Management). Formal registration at the Registrar's Office takes 
place through the myUPEI portal.

Biostats VHM 801 course - Fall Semester 2022

Time:  September 1 - December 5
- lectures: Thursdays 9-11am in AVC Learning Commons 278N; 
            start Thursday 1/9, 9-11am
- labs: mostly Mondays 1-4pm (one Wednesday 9am-12pm) in the large
        large computer lab (AVC 218S); 
        start Wednesday 7/9, 9am-12pm
- final exam (tentative date): Monday 12/12

- Normal distribution
- Sampling and Design of experiments
- Probability and Random variables
- Binomial distribution
- Statistical inference: estimation, confidence intervals and tests
- Analysis of one and two continuous samples (t-tests)
- Analysis of one and two discrete samples
- Two-way tables
- One-way analysis of variance
- Two-way analysis of variance
- Simple linear regression and correlation
- Nonparametric methods
- Sample size calculations
- Reporting of statistical analysis in papers

Examination:  final exam, optional mid-term exam, home assignments
