Biostats Course VHM 802 (VHM-8020-1) at AVC - Winter Semester 2021
Welcome to the homepage of VHM 802: Advanced Veterinary Biostatistics, last updated 29/4 2021.
In 2021, the course will again be run in part jointly with VHM
812 (Epidemiology II). Students may take VHM 802 separately (3
credits) or in combination with VHM 812 (taken simultaneously or in a previous year, 2
credits).
Course work and exam
- final exam: with VHM 812, without VHM 812. Dataset (.csv format). Solution.
- home assignments (40%; Instructions for home assignments and exam):
- Multiple linear regression: Additional exercise 2.9, due 5/2 (only for students not combining VHM 802 with VHM 812),
- Multiple logistic regression: Additional exercise 4.4, due 19/2 (only for students not combining VHM 802 with VHM 812),
- Multifactorial analysis: Additional exercise 7.7, due 4/3,
- Experimental design (and analysis): GO Problem 13.8, due 12/3,
- Multivariate analysis I: Multivariate exercise 7, due 22/3,
- Multivariate analysis II: Multivariate exercise 11, due 6/4.
- project (30%): outline due: March 15;
seminars on April 12; report due: April 13.
- exam (30%, 24-hour take home exam): Thursday 22 April, starting at 9am.
Schedule
(Note that the course schedule, with a mixture of in-class and
online sessions, is tentative and may be changed at a later time.)
- Part joint with VHM 812 (not for students who have already taken VHM
812):
- online lectures and review sessions (L/R) Tuesdays 1-3pm and
Fridays 9-11am in AVC Learning Commons (278N or 280N) on the following
days: 12/1, 15/1, 19/1, 22/1, 26/1, 29/1, 5/2, 9/2, 12/2, 16/3, 19/3,
- supplementary asynchronous video lectures (L) on the following days (mornings):
11/1, 13/1, 27/1, 1/2, 3/2, 15/3, 17/3,
- Part separate for VHM 802 (for all students):
- asynchronous video lectures (L) posted on Thursdays (morning)
- first lecture on Feb 18, last lecture on Apr 15,
- in-class and synchronously online streamed labs/practicals (P) on Mondays 1-4pm in the large computer lab
(AVC 218S)
- first lab on Feb 22, last lab on Apr 19.
